ORIGINS
Two mates set out to make easy-going sustainable clothes designed to look great and get Aussies into the big skies, sandy tracks and rugged shores. This is what they created.
BARU
For the Conscious Kind.
We, Jeremy and Blake, are two Melbourne mates who came up with the concept for baru over some pretty frank conversations about mental health. We agreed that a beach or a camping trip with mates always helped us switch off and gain some perspective, and our research only backed up our experience.
BLAKE
Founder, Design & Marketing
Blake grew up near Dimmicks Beach in Blairgowrie. With a keen interest in sustainability and design, Blake is currently completing a Masters of Architecture at RMIT University. Whilst researching sustainable industry for a uni project, Blake began to realise the extent of pollution that new trends in fast fashion produce. This became the inspiration for our sustainable products.
JEREMY
Founder, Manufacturing & Administration
With fond childhood memories of the Great Ocean Road and its beautiful landscapes, Jeremy has always appreciated the restorative effects that nature has to offer, which led to his pursuit in a degree in horticulture and informed him for his work in disability. For him, getting outdoors and into nature is about improving mental health and wellness. baru is about the challenge to help others improve themselves, as well as the planet.
